Pert Chart

A Pert Chart or plot, also called a Pert Diagram, is a graphical representation of a project's schedule, showing the sequence of activities, the project workflow, and the displays of logically interrelated activities. The pert chart ensures clarity for even large projects with cross-linked activities. The pert chart also displays the critical path of tasks that must be completed on time for a project to meet its completion deadline. The chart can be constructed with attributes such as activity ID, early start date, late start date, total float, and more. The pert chart is a project planning and management tool that allows you to focus on the sequence of events and workflow.

The Pert Chart Report configuration window consists of three areas: the titles area, the layout area, and the filter area. Please note that the pert chart does not support logos in the header area. In the Layout area, you can select from two Layouts—Minimum and Normal. You can switch between layouts and choose the fields that best suit your needs. As you switch between the two layouts, the activity box on the right changes its display and content, representing the layout of the activity box as it will be presented at the output. You can choose the date format for all date fields and select the actual activity information to be displayed. Typical fields are activity ID, description, duration, start and finish dates, float, and actual progress.

The Minimal layout will produce a box containing only the Activity ID and its connecting logic. Choosing this option provides a compact project view, making logic checks easier. The links are annotated with the constraints delay. The links are drawn logically, meaning that a Start-to-Start constraint is drawn from the predecessor's start to the successor's start (left side of the activity box).

The Normal layout allows you to include more activity information in each box. Five additional data items may be presented in the activity box. The items may be chosen from the fields available in each drop-down list. The open fields are default Safran Project fields and also user-defined fields. The box layout will be as shown in the pert chart configuration window.
