The Exploring Safran Project (ESP) documentation provides a comprehensive overview of the features and techniques utilized in Safran Project. It details the process of organizing, planning, and monitoring the status and control of projects.

Prior knowledge of Project Management basics and familiarity with primary operations within the Windows environment are assumed. This guide caters to both novice and seasoned Safran Project users.

Summary of Contents

User Interface and Navigation

An introduction to the functionality of the Safran Project windows. It briefly describes navigating the Safran Project Windows effectively using the keyboard, mouse, and screen controls.

Overview of Performance Measurement and Earned Value Management

An overview of the Earned Value Methods supported by Safran Project. One may study this chapter together with the Government Reporting section. In some applications, earned value methods (EVM) may be referenced as performance measurement algorithms.

Project Setup

Creating and maintaining Project definitions is discussed.

The Barchart Editor

Creating and maintaining Project schedules is discussed.

Project Control

Schedule analysis, resource leveling, and alternative scheduling features are discussed. This chapter also describes the baseline process and outlines how to create the original baseline, perform revisions to a baseline, and control the project's progress.

The Schedule Risk features, which are integrated with the Barchart Editor, are also described in this chapter. Note that the Schedule Risk Analysis is an option. You should contact your System Manager if it is unavailable in your Safran Implementation. In addition, it describes how to control the project's progress.

Reports and Graphics, How to Prepare, View, and Print

Progress and status reporting are discussed. Actual expenditures may be included. There is a discussion concerning "Time" vs. "Volume" progress. It also describes the Status Update process and performance measurement techniques.
