Article summary

Timenow

Timenow is a critical element of a Safran Planner plan. Timenow is a defined point in time from where you see your activities. Timenow will usually be different from today's date. Timenow is the earliest possible time to plan your activities or schedule unfinished work. You will see that the Early Start date cannot be earlier than Timenow.

When activities are added to the plan using no time constraints or logic, they will, by default, get an Early Start date = Timenow. By adding logic, calendars, time constraints, etc., the network analysis will update the Early Start point of the activity.

Planners often have different ways of working with Timenow. Some like to keep Timenow stable and not touch it/move it in between baselines, while others want to move Timenow regularly. By moving Timenow, unfinished activities will be moved accordingly. If you are behind, the remaining work of your plan will be pushed out in time according to the new Timenow and the logic used between the activities.

You set the initial Timenow when you create a new Project.
